THE 24-year-old suspect who was arrested in connection with the murder of Relebogile Segami, 11, is expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on April 4.

Community members are outraged over her brutal death and are baying for blood.

Segami was reported missing on March 30 after she left home in Latlhi Mabilo Street, in Galeshewe to meet friends in the vicinity of Kagisho.

Her naked body was discovered in the veld near the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature on March 31, with a T-shirt wrapped around her neck.

Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the Galeshewe Family, Child and Sexual Offences unit was investigating a case of murder.

“The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The arrest of the suspect came after the police followed a lead, which pointed to the suspect.”

He added that a post mortem was conducted although they were not at liberty to divulge the contents and details of the autopsy.

“The investigation continues.”
