Caritas’s Therapy Centre has launched a trauma series consisting of weekly voice messages that discuss a range of counselling topics.

Este van der Merwe, Caritas marketing manager, explained that the therapists at the centre realised that there was a need among people who could not afford therapy to receive practical advice.

“The voice messages cover a wide range of topics, for example, trauma and how to deal with it.”

These messages, that range from around four to eight minutes each, are available for free and members of the public who are also interested in receiving the message every Friday, are asked to send a Whatsapp with their name to 082 572 3900 and they will be added to the group.

“Previous voice messages are also available on our website: www.caritas.org.za under ‘Trauma Reeks’.”

While the online resource will prove valuable for those who need encouragement, support and general advice, the centre’s free 24-hour emergency number, 083 415 1484, is also still available to anyone who needs to speak to a professional.
