According to a post on social media, Dries Delport from Boshof fell ill after attending the Divine Restoration Ministries conference in Bloemfontein from March 10-11.

THE PATIENT from Boshof who was admitted to Mediclinic Gariep hospital in Kimberley and tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, has made a full recovery.

The patient experience manager for Mediclinic Gariep, Denise Coetzee, said that the man has been discharged.

“Another two patients who were admitted, tested negative for the virus. Three out of the other four patients who are awaiting their results have gone into quarantine at home,” said Coetzee on Tuesday.

According to a post on social media, Dries Delport from Boshof fell ill after attending the Divine Restoration Ministries conference in Bloemfontein from March 10-11.

The Free State Department of Health is still in the process of tracing hundreds of worshippers who attended the conference, where international guests from France, Israel and the United States also tested positive for the coronavirus.

A family member indicated that Delport had contacted the conference organiser on March 16 after he began showing flu-like symptoms.

She advised the public to observe the restrictions imposed during the 21-day lockdown.

“Yes we can become angry that the conference was held and at the international guests who attended, but they also did not know that they were infected. They also have families that were subjected to the same torment, as we did. All of us had to be tested.

“Nobody spreads the virus on purpose, it can happen to anyone. We ask for empathy and support and prayers, as opposed to blame.

“How many people are infected with the virus but show no symptoms and have not undergone testing?

“If anyone is fortunate to be healthy and at home with their families during this time, it is a blessing.”
