THE BODY of a missing 61-year-old Prieska man, Jan Joggoms, was found in a ditch in the veld near Plakkerskamp by his brother on the weekend.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the body was found in a partially decomposed state.

“The body was found on December 5, 2020 at around 8am in a ditch in the veld. The body was partially decomposed but family members were able to identify the deceased as he still had a packet of medication he received from the local clinic on the day that he went missing,” said Kock.

Joggoms was reported missing after he never returned home when he went to a community clinic in Ethembeni on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

“The Prieska police, the SAPS Search and Rescue team and the local community searched for him ever since the time he was reported missing,” said Kock.

Kock said that no foul play is suspected. “An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

“Anyone with information relating to the matter can contact Detective Constable Benjamin Mphulayana on 062 385 5119. The investigation continues,” Kock concluded.
