THE BODY of a woman was found on the railway tracks near Flamingo Casino just outside of Kimberley by a security guard.

The woman was reported missing by her family on April 9.

Police spokesperson Captain Tessa Jansen said on Tuesday that a woman’s body was discovered on the railway tracks on Saturday, April 17, and she was identified as Marie Olifant by her next of kin, as she was dressed in the same clothing in which she was last seen.

“Her body was discovered by a security guard from Flamingo Casino during his camp inspection,” said Jansen.

“She was reported missing at Roodepan SAPS by her family about two weeks ago and it is presumed that she died at about that time.”

Jansen said that a post-mortem has been conducted. “The police have opened an inquest into her death.”
