THE ROSEDALE police have opened an inquest docket following the discovery of the body of a 35-year-old female police officer, who was still dressed in her police uniform, near the railway tracks in the area.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the body was discovered by a passer-by at about 7.30am on Tuesday morning.

“The deceased is a sergeant attached to the Upington police and was on duty the previous day, hence she was found still dressed in her police uniform. There were no visible injuries inflicted to the deceased but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said Kock.

He urged anyone who might have information regarding the incident to contact the police.

“Anyone with information can contact the Rosedale police Detective unit on 054 337 0126. The investigation continues.”
