Body found in boot of car in Roodepan

The police are investigating a murder case after the decomposed body of a man was found in the boot of his car.

THE BODY of a 38-year-old man was found in the boot of a car in Lethabo Park, Roodepan on Tuesday night, at about 11pm.

Residents said that the deceased was identified as the owner of a shanty in the area.

“The vehicle was locked and members of the fire brigade were called out to get the body out of the car,” said one of the residents.

Police spokesperson Captain Bashoabile Kale said the Roodepan Detectives were investigating a case of murder.

“The victim’s body was found in the boot of his Audi A5 and was discovered by neighbours who had complained of a foul smell that was emanating from the car. The vehicle was opened and the decomposed body of an adult male was discovered in the boot,” said Kale.

He added that the cause of death was currently not known.

“The deceased was positively identified by his wife. A missing persons file was never opened for him,” said Kale.
