KIMBERLEY residents were left in awe of both the firepower and range of opportunities at the SANDF’s disposal
KIMBERLEY residents were left in awe of both the firepower and range of opportunities at the SANDF’s disposal, as the big guns were brought out for yesterday’s main Armed Forces Day event.
Yesterday’s event was the culmination of a week of activity that caused major disruptions to the flow of traffic through the city as a result of the influx of military vehicles and personnel, leaving Kimberley resembling a city under siege.
However, as the heavy artillery rolled down Du Toitspan Road yesterday morning, the public response was overwhelmingly positive as both young and old took advantage of the opportunity to familiarise themselves with some of the most advanced and lethal technology in the world.
“Getting from A to B has been impossible over the last few days,” said Charlotte Koopman from West End.
