Augrabies man gets 12 years behind bars for fatal stabbing

A 36-year-old Northern Cape man was recently sentenced to 12 years in prison for a murder that occurred on January 21 in Greenfields, Augrabies.

THE KAKAMAS Regional Court recently sentenced 36-year-old Alfred Modise to 12 years in prison for the murder of Heinrich Kordom, which occurred on January 21 in Greenfields, Augrabies.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Mashay Gamieldien, reported that Modise stabbed Kordom in the chest during an altercation.

“The thorough investigation conducted by Sergeant Howard Thomas of the Augrabies Detectives led to Modise’s arrest and subsequent conviction. The prosecution was led by the senior State prosecutor Mr Du Plessis,” said Gamieldien.

“The district commissioner of ZFM District, Major-General Monica Sebili, commended the investigating officer and the State prosecutor for their contributions to securing the conviction and sentencing.”
