THE KIMBERLEY police are investigating a case of armed robbery after the owner of a shop in the CBD was hit in the face with a firearm and robbed of cash on Tuesday afternoon.

Three suspects apparently entered the store shortly before 4pm and demanded money, while also trying to steal other goods.

One suspect, who was carrying a firearm, assaulted the owner.

The suspects fled the scene, with an undisclosed sum of cash, in a white Volkswagen Polo driven by a fourth suspect.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Dimakatso Mooi confirmed yesterday that three suspects entered the shop and demanded cash at about 3.55pm on April 7.

“One of the suspects had a firearm which he used to hit the victim in his face. The suspects fled in a white sedan after they took the money,” said Mooi.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is requested to contact Warrant Officer Dibebe on 060 861 6893 or the Crime Stop Line 08600 10111.

No arrests have been made yet.

“Police investigations continue.”
