“The Provincial Executive Committee would like to send it’s sincere heartfelt condolences to his bloodline, family, wife, children and comrades”

THE ANC in the Northern Cape has confirmed the death of the executive mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Roy Olyn (pictured).

The provincial secretary of the party, Deshi Ngxanga, said yesterday that the ANC had “learnt with great shock and a profound sense of loss of the passing of one of it’s Provincial Executive Committee members, Olyn”.

“Olyn was the executive Mayor of ZF Mgcawu District Municipality and an ANC Provincial Executive Committee member in the Northern Cape. He carried the passion of serving the people of ZF Mgcawu as he was a long-serving councillor of the district municipality.”

Ngxanga said that with Olyn’s death, the party had lost “a great fountain of knowledge, foremost an organic intellectual and a humble revolutionary who was a selfless soldier of the people”.

“He was committed to liberating his people as it has been his obsession which accounted for his unquestionable contribution. He leaves us at a time when our revolution needs more comrades of his calibre.

“The Provincial Executive Committee would like to send it’s sincere heartfelt condolences to his bloodline, family, wife, children and comrades.

“After consultation with the family and a visit by provincial officials, we will provide details of his funeral,” concluded Ngxanga.
