THE ANC has expressed its dismay at the disobedience shown by Premier Sylvia Lucas, who has still not reversed her provincial cabinet reshuffle.
ANC provincial secretary Deshi Ngxanga (pictured) said yesterday that this contradicted the assurances made by the premier that she would comply with orders to rescind her reshuffle.
“The MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Gail Parker, left the country on June 2, knowing that she is no longer the MEC for this department,” said Ngxanga.
Parker embarked on an investment tour to Brazil, along with a delegation of MECs.
Ngxanga added that Mac Jack and Pauline Williams were waiting to be sworn in as MECs so that they could be reinstated at the Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism and the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison respectively.
“The ANC sees the deliberate delays in the rescinding as highly ill-disciplined and challenges the authority of the ANC as the governing party. The ANC has been patient on the matter, and from here on can no longer be patient. A month has passed and the ‘mistake’ has not been corrected.”
Ngxanga stated that a special Provincial Executive Committee meeting would be convened on June 13 to discuss the matter and find a way forward.
