AN ALLEGED notorious rapist and thief will re-appear in court next month after being arrested for a string of crimes that were committed over a four-year period.
The accused, Nomiso Gijani, 30, from Club 2000 in Galeshewe, was arrested in January and he remains in custody. He made his first court appearance on January 28.
The case was postponed in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court yesterday, for a decision to be made by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The accused is facing 22 charges including rape, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault, robbery with aggravating circumstances, where he allegedly robbed his victims at knife point, and malicious damage to property.
The alleged crimes were committed between 2014 and 2018 in Donkerhoek, Nobengula Street, Ipeleng, near Candy’s tavern, Gugulethu Street, Snake Park, Club 2000, 7de laan and Phutanang.
He was charged with 12 counts of rape, where in some instances he allegedly raped different women on the same day, assaulted and threatened them with a knife and proceeded to rob them of their possessions, including cellphones, cellphone tablets and cash.
Gijani allegedly assaulted and stabbed a man in Donkerhoek on June 21 2015.
It is furthermore alleged that he stabbed a rape victim in the hand after robbing her of her cellphone and cash.
He also allegedly robbed a woman of her bag, two cellphones and two leather jackets by threatening her with a knife, after assaulting her.
On July 3 2018 he allegedly smashed the window and damaged the tyres of a motor vehicle in Phutanang.
Gijani was charged with robbing a man of his two cellphones and cash and stabbing him with a knife. He also allegedly caused him grievous bodily harm by throwing stones at him on July 13 2018.
