AN ALLEGED Kimberley serial rapist will remain in custody after abandoning his bail application yesterday.
Ndumiso Giyani, 30, from Club 2000 in Galeshewe, was arrested in January for a string of alleged crimes that were committed over a four-year period.
He is facing numerous charges including rape, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault, robbery with aggravating circumstances, where he allegedly robbed his victims at knife point, and malicious damage to property.
The alleged crimes were committed between 2014 and 2018 in Donkerhoek, Nobengula Street, Ipeleng, near Candy’s tavern, Gugulethu Street, Snake Park, Club 2000, 7de laan and Phutanang.
Giyani is charged with several counts of rape, where in some instances he allegedly raped different women on the same day, assaulted and threatened them with a knife and proceeded to rob them of their possessions, including cellphones, cellphone tablets and cash.
He appeared in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he abandoned his bail application. The case was postponed to June 4. – Norma Wildenboer
