A JOINT operation comprising of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigating unit, Crime Intelligence, Local Criminal Record Centre and Kuruman Public Order Policing led to the arrest of a 28-year-old Zimbabwean national on Tuesday for alleged fraud.

According to a statement by the Hawks, information was received regarding a suspect, who was allegedly manufacturing, issuing and selling Zimbabwe and South African driving licences, asylum seeker temporary permits and passports.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court today.

In a separate incident, three suspects between the ages of 24 and 33 were arrested on Tuesday night by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigating unit, assisted by the Tactical Response Team and Crime Intelligence, for conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

“A tip-off was followed up regarding a possible armed robbery at Agrimark in Danielskuil, Kuruman,” said Mnisi.

“At about midnight, three suspicious suspects were arrested before they could commit a crime. Items seized include a 9mm firearm, three cellphones and a motor vehicle.”

Mnisi said the three suspects were detained at the Danielskuil police station and are expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court today.
