All staff and students at Sol Plaatje University are expected to have completed their first round of Covid-19 vaccinations by February 21 in order to access the campus grounds.

ALL STAFF and students at Sol Plaatje University are expected to have completed their first round of Covid-19 vaccinations by February 21 in order to access the campus grounds.

Vice-chancellor and SPU principal Professor Andrew Crouch stated that this was in line with ensuring the health and safety of students, staff and visitors and to allow face-to-face lectures to resume in the new academic year.

Anyone who is not vaccinated will expect to produce an exemption letter based on medical or religious grounds.

Students who are not vaccinated will be allowed to register for their studies but will only be given access to online learning and will not be allowed to reside at the university residence, access the library or participate in any sporting activities or practical work until they are fully vaccinated.

The university added that all employees had to submit proof of vaccination.
