6 more die due to Covid-19 in NC

The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mhkize announced six more deaths due to Covid-19 in the Northern Cape where a total of 8 818 people have tested positive for the coronavirus as of Saturday August 22.

Three deaths were recorded in the Sol Plaatje local municipal districts, two deaths were confirmed from the Dawid Kruiper local municipality and one person who resided in the Ga-Segonyana local municipality.

The Northern Cape provincial government indicated that this brought the total number of deaths in the province due to Covid-19 to 106.

The number of recoveries currently stands at 5203 which translates to a recovery rate of 60 percent.

The Frances Baard district recorded the most new positive cases at 76 followed by 74 in the John Taolo Gaetsewe district, 61 in the Pixley ka seme district, 22 positive cases in the ZF Mgcawu district and two new cases in the Namakwa district.

There are 3 507 active cases in the Northern Cape.
