US fugitive nabbed on Northern Cape farm

Members from Interpol engaged with the Kanoeneiland SAPS in connection with an American man wanted for several cases, including kidnapping.

A 41-YEAR-old US citizen was arrested in Kanoneiland, Northern Cape, on Sunday, October 26, for extradition to the United States.

The arrest was carried out by the Kanoneiland SAPS in conjunction with Interpol, after the suspect was traced to a farm in the area.

According to the police, Interpol officials engaged with the local police regarding an American man wanted in connection with several cases, including kidnapping, who was believed to be in the vicinity of Kanoeneiland.

A joint team comprising members from the Kanoneiland SAPS, Upington Border Police and Upington Highway Patrol worked with Interpol officials to apprehend the suspect at the local farm.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be extradited to the United States soon.

The district commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Major-General Monica Sebili, commended the collaboration between the local police and Interpol, praising the swift action that led to the suspect’s arrest.
