Seven people were injured in a motor vehicle accident that took place on the N12 involving a truck and another vehicle on August 10.

Traffic was disrupted for some time on Sunday.

SAPS Northern Cape spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the Kimberley police responded to an accident scene on the national road between Kimberley and Warrenton on August 10 between 2 and 4 pm.

"It is believed that the driver lost control of the truck, which overturned and spilt a load of charcoal on the road between the times of 2-4 pm.

"A sedan vehicle that was approaching the N12 from the direction of Riverton allegedly failed to observe the stop and go, and collided into the back of another vehicle, resulting in seven passengers sustaining injuries."

He added that all seven passengers were transported to the hospital for medical attention.

"The police cleared one side of the road, creating a stop-and-go to allow the traffic to flow."

Sam indicated that the police were investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving against the driver of the sedan vehicle.

"The road was cleared and opened for the flow of traffic after the truck and load were towed from the scene," he stated.
