THIRTEEN fugitives wanted for crimes ranging from murder to domestic violence are now behind bars following a police tracing operation led by Roodepan SAPS detectives this week.

The early morning sting, conducted on July 30, formed part of ongoing Operation Shanela II police actions across the province. The operation was spearheaded by Captain Teno Slambert and focused on individuals who had managed to evade arrest — until now.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 52, were tracked down and apprehended for a variety of serious offences, including murder, robbery, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, contravening protection orders, domestic violence, and obstruction of justice. Several also had outstanding warrants of arrest.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane confirmed the arrests and stressed that efforts to track down wanted suspects will continue without interruption. The crackdown is part of the SAPS’s broader commitment to restoring public trust and delivering justice in the Frances Baard District.
