The Kimberley SAPS Detectives arrested 17 wanted suspects during a tracing operation on Friday.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the suspects were wanted for charges including assault GBH, malicious damage to property, theft out of motor vehicles, house breaking and theft and shoplifting.

“On November 10 between midnight and 8am vigilant detectives searched 39 premises and pounced on unsuspecting wanted suspects at their homes in Kimberley and surrounding areas.”

He added that 13 male and four female suspects were expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court soon.

“The Frances Baard district commissioner Major-General Johan Bean commended the Kimberley SAPS branch commander Colonel Rassie Victor and the Kimberley Detective Unit for their relentless actions and commitment and thanked the community for cooperation that resulted in the arrests. The actions form part of the Safer Festive Season operations where the police will continue to ensure that criminals are removed from the streets and brought to justice.”
