THIRTEEN wanted suspects – one woman and 12 men – were arrested by the police during Safer Festive Season operations in Roodepan on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the suspects were sought in connection with various crimes.

“Roodepan SAPS Detectives followed up on information and conducted a tracing operation that resulted in the apprehension and arrest of 12 males and one female suspect,” said Kock. “On Wednesday, December 22, from about 4am, detectives searched several premises and arrested unsuspecting wanted suspects at their homes in Roodepan and surrounding areas. The suspects are wanted for charges varying from assault GBH, domestic violence, theft, robbery, contravention of protection orders and housebreaking.”

He said the suspects are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.

Kock added that the team members were commended for the arrests.

“The Frances Baard district commissioner, Major-General Johan Bean, commended the Roodepan SAPS detectives, under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Mashodi, for their relentless efforts in combating crime and cleaning up our streets during this festive season and beyond.”
