Joy for Northern Cape mothers on Christmas Day.

THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Health welcomed 11 newborn babies on Christmas Day.

Departmental spokesperson, Lebogang Majaha, said the first baby was born just after midnight on December 25, 2021.

“The province registered 11 newborn babies, eight boys and three girls, in public health facilities. The babies were born from 00h00 midnight to 9am this morning. The first baby, a boy, was delivered at 00h15am, with a birth weight of 39 grams at the Professor ZK Matthews District Hospital in Barkly West,” said Majaha.

He said the MEC of Health, Matuping Lejwene visited the Galeshewe Day Hospital in Kimberley to welcome some of the newborn babies.

“Lekwene also thanked health workers for their dedication, and wished all mothers and their babies good health,” he said.
