Three lose their lives on Province's roads
NORTHERN Cape police have urged motorists to take extra precautions when travelling this festive season following the death of two people, including a 10-year-old child, in separate accidents this weekend.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel, Dimakatso Mooi, said the child was killed in a collision between two vehicles in Kurumanon the N14.
“A Toyota Fortuner collided with an Audi in which the girl was a passenger. Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.”
A man also died in an accident in Hanover.
“A 29-year-old man died after a Toyota vehicle collided with an Isuzu bakkie on the N1 near Hanover. The victim, who was the passenger of the Toyota vehicle, died on the scene,” she said.
Police also arrested two men for the murder of a 23-year-old man in Mothibistad.
“Police in Mothibistad are investigating a case of murder after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death on Saturday. The victim was stabbed several times and two suspects, aged 19 and 23, have been arrested.
“They are expected to appear in court soon on a charge of murder.”
A 33-year-old man was arrested for stabbing his 34-year-old girlfriend in Kakamas following an argument. She, however, survived the attack.
According to Mooi the suspect is expected to appear in court on a charge of attempted murder.
