POPULAR actor and media personality Lawrence Maleka is thrilled to be hosting the country’s prestigious awards ceremony SAMA28, set to take place on August 28 at Sun City.

Maleka makes a return to the SAMAs arena alongside Nandi Madida.

In a press statement the Gomora actor said, “I am again honoured to have received the call to host the country’s most prestigious awards show.

“I am excited about the calibre of artists that will be celebrated across the 30 categories, the phenomenal performers that will ignite the stage, the magic Nandi Madida and I will create on the stage. It’s going to be a memorable iteration of the Samas.”

RiSA (Recording Industry of South Africa) chief executive Nhlanhla Sibisi said Maleka was a “natural fit” for the awards ceremony.

“He brings the type of energy, professionalism and personality that resonates well with audiences,” Sibisi said. As a previous host, we know what he is capable of, and we are looking forward to seeing him and Nandi Madida make #SAMA28 magic.“

Speaking about the awards Sibisi said, “The reaction to a physical format following two years of virtual events due to the Covid pandemic , has been remarkable to say the least.”

Madida was also elated to be part of the biggest and most-anticipated music calender event in SA.

“When I accepted my first SAMA in 2020 for my collaboration with K.O, ‘Say U Will’, I would not have imagined that I would be hosting just two years later. I am humbled to have been trusted with this honour and look forward to bringing unforgettable moments to the #SAMA28 stage alongside my co-hosts,” she said in a press statement.

She also shared her bubble of excitement with her fans on Instagram.

“As Your Host for the @thesamas_ The South African Music Awards I cannot wait to laugh, dance, sing and have a good time with you all! As we celebrate THE BEST MUSIC currently in the world. yes, I said it. South African Music,” Madida said.
