EVER wondered how much it would cost to live like the character Emily from the popular Netflix show, “Emily in Paris”?

Well, ponder no more as social casino blog, McLuck, conducted a study into how much Emily’s lifestyle will cost.

“Emily in Paris” showcases the best fashion, the coolest Parisian spots and beautiful scenery and is nothing short of extravagant.

The streaming platform recently announced a fifth season of the show and with both parts available.

According to blog, Emily’s lifestyle could set back aspiring fashionistas a staggering $23,039 (R395,027) a month.

Here is a breakdown of the costs, which includes Emily’s monthly costs for rent and utilities for her fifth arrondissement apartment, coffee, cocktails, taxi rides, dining out and clothing.

Apartment and utilities

Emily lives in the fifth arrondissement of Paris, also known as the Latin Quarter. According to the blog, to rent a one-bedroom apartment in this prestigious central location would cost around $1,786 (R30,636 ) per month.

It noted that utilities for a one-bedroom apartment, including electricity, water, and garbage disposal, would cost around $282 (R4,849) per month.

Food and drink

In the show, Emily is regularly grabbing a coffee on her way to the office. The cost of one coffee in Paris is approximately $5.47 (R93.79), so considering how often Emily visits the coffee shop, the cost of around 20 coffees per month would total $109 (R1,875).

Emily also often eats at the many amazing restaurants across Paris. The restaurant that appears frequently on the show is Ristorante Terra Nera, also known on the show as the restaurant owned by Gabriel.

Other Parisian restaurants featured on the show include Bistrot De Valois, L’Ambroisie, and Bouillon Chartier. The cost of a three-course meal for two in Paris is around $94 (R1,623) each, which means 20 a month would set one back by $1,893 (R32,461).

Commuting

One of the main characters is the city of Paris itself, with the show truly showcasing the city and some of its beautiful scenery.

In season four, viewers see Emily visiting Claude Monet’s house in Giverny, Jardin du Palais-Royal, and Place de Valois, where Savoir’s office is located.

Emily travels around the city, but in all four seasons of the show, she rarely mentions taking the Metro.

Instead, Emily is regularly seen taking a taxi, which for an 8km ride would cost her around $23.07 (R395). A total of 20 taxi rides per month would cost her $461 (R7,912).

Fashion

Last but not least, Emily’s wardrobe. The fashion in the show often takes centre stage, with Emily’s outfits being anything but boring. Season four is no different, showcasing designers such as Celine, Miu Miu, Christopher Esber, and Missoni.

The total cost of 36 clothing items and accessories worn by Emily in season four is a staggering $36,387 (R622,061). When the cost is split over a year, Emily would spend approximately $3,032 (R51,838) per month on clothes and accessories.
