“I must have been five when I started expressing myself on stage. I started off ‘small’ with roles in various church choirs and groups”

IF YOU’RE looking for larger than life laughs then don’t miss entertainer Nathan Kennedy’s performance this weekend at Flamingo’s Bar 129 in the city.

The show, Being Nathan Kennedy, promises to be packed with flamboyance, laughs, music and more.

Kennedy, from Mitchells Plain, says entertainment has been in his blood since a very young age.

“I must have been five when I started expressing myself on stage. I started off ‘small’ with roles in various church choirs and groups,” Kennedy said.

His “big break” came when he hosted his first solo gospel concert in 2009 and not long after that he secured a contract in Spain.

In 2015 he was assigned a role in the theatre production Shiza Ikapa at the Rockwell Theatre and later also secured a role in the Live Drag Vocal production. He was also offered a role in the Michael Jackson tribute production called Got to be Startin’ Something.

Kennedy has a long list of achievements. Starting a drag persona in 2017, he has kept crowds entertained with his Disco Divas Live vocal shows countrywide and has earned over 60 000 followers on his social media channels.

Having done tributes to everyone from Michael Jackson to Westlife and Tina Turner, all over South Africa from Pretoria to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, Kennedy brings to his audiences comic relief, sounds and moves to get them singing and dancing along and with some items a feeling of nostalgia.

Tickets are available at Flamingo’s Cash Desk at R50 per person. See FRONT PAGE.
