Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa recently announced that her emotionally taxing divorce from award-winning DJ Black Coffee has finally been settled, a declaration that has garnered significant media attention.
After six years of legal struggles, the actress took to Instagram to share pictures of those who have stood beside her throughout the ordeal and wrote a heartwarming message to them in the caption.
See the message below.
On Monday, October 13, Mlotshwa confirmed that the South Gauteng High Court ruled in her favour.
The court officially recognised her customary marriage with Black Coffee as valid and in community of property, overturning the antenuptial contract (ANC) that he claimed was in place.
As part of the judgment, Black Coffee was also ordered to pay R15 000 spousal maintenance and R50 000 in child support every month.
Reports indicate that Mlotshwa will also, in due course, receive 50% of her ex-husband assets.
With Black Coffee's current net worth estimated at around $60 million (R1.38 billion), netizens are curious about how this will all unfold, especially following recent comments from Black Coffee's sister, Lungie Maphumulo.
Maphumulo confidently commented on social media: "Good luck to her. From where I am standing, I don't think she will win this, but let me wish her well."
Her comment got netizens thinking that Black Coffee might have an ace up his sleeve, with many speculating that he might consider appealing the court's ruling.
Keyboard attorneys quickly commented on a possible appeal.
"Let him appeal, it won't change the application of the Customary Marriages Act. Furthermore, he actually alleged that they were not married, and Enhle and the attorney had to go to court to prove that customary marriage exists and all requirements for a customary marriage exist.
"He should have counter-claimed and asked for forfeiture, but maybe the court dismissed it ... However, a lot of men with money will try and hide assets... But I believe her attorney is on the ball," wrote @InLaymenstermsS.A.
@Earlypraise-m9 wrote: "If he appeals, the appeal is 50 50, but also he may lose even more ... He better be wise, hence he parts with 75%."
Meanwhile, @4u2nvkris commented: "This whole thing is so messy. Enhle is the mother to your kids. By giving her half, you are in extension giving it to your kids. What’s the hurrah about? Don’t let money poison you. In the end, it’s the lawyers that will benefit."
