Amanda Black to headline the show
The action will not be limited to the track on Saturday, August 5, with a mouth-watering line-up of artists set to complement the top racehorses in the country perfectly, when the Flamingo Park Race comes to Kimberley.
This prestigious event promises to be among the highlights on the city’s sporting and social calendar with unsurpassed equestrian action on the race course and a plethora of entertainment on the sidelines.
Musical talent on offer will include the likes of Idols winner, Amanda Black, who will be headlining the main event, supported by an array of local and national performers who are sure to have revellers partying the night away.
Black is currently preparing for her first major live concert, titled “A Night with Amanda Black”, which will be taking place at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on August 20.
Still a relative newcomer on the South African music scene, Black has already made her presence known, claiming multiple awards from her platinum-selling album “Amazulu”, with the title track, along with her smash hit, “Kahle”, receiving high praise from fans and critics alike.
She was also recently nominated for a BET Viewers’ Choice Award in the Best International Act category.
At the main event, Black will be joined by an impressive selection of local acts with Deekamo, Sound Register, DJ Flexx, DJ Robby, DJ Pule, DJ KG Smallz and others among the performers who will be on the decks.
While race day will run from 11am to 10pm, the festivities are expected to continue into the early hours of Sunday morning, courtesy of a stellar line-up for the after-party.
These artists include Prince Kaybee, who earned a whopping five nominations at the 15th annual Metro FM Music Awards earlier this year.
Born in Matwabeng, Senekal, the “Better Days” hitmaker relocated to Bloemfontein where his career as DJ started to take shape.
He played in a number of nightclubs across the city before recording his debut album, which comprises of hit, “Wa Jellawa”, which was nominated for song of the year.
However, the 27-year-old will not be the only big drawcard as the “Kings of the weekend” – Sphectacula and DJ Naves are also coming to town.
In April, the extremely popular duo bid farewell to Metro FM, after seven years on the air, taking over the afternoon drive slot, weekdays between 3pm and 6pm, at Durban-based station Gagasi FM.
Their latest single, “Believe”, featuring Tribal and Dreamteam, has been performing very well on the charts and in the clubs, as did their summer release, “I Do I Do”.
Other artists expected to perform at the after-party include DJ Mandeep, DJ Calypsoul and many more.
Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers Stores nationwide.
