Iran reports 976 new COVID-19 cases, 97,424 in total

A health spokesman said that 78,422 patients have recovered so far with 2,690 still remain under medical surveillance.

TEHRAN – The infection of 976 people with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours took Iran’s tally to 97,424, according to the updated data of Iran’s Health Ministry on Sunday.

The number of fatalities in the country mounted to 6,203 after 47 died overnight, said Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. 

The health spokesman said that 78,422 patients have recovered so far with 2,690 still remain under medical surveillance. The number of administered lab tests across the country are 496,273 so far, said Jahanpur. Iran announced its first cases of COVID-19 on Feb. 19.
