Two bust for drugs worth over half a million rand

DRUGS with an estimated street value of over half a million rand were confiscated during a police operation, dubbed “Operation Vhuthu Hawe”, in Danielskuil.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said two suspects were arrested on charges of drug dealing on Monday, May 30.

Tawana said that members of the Upington Border Police, Upington K9, Upington Highway Patrol and Danielskuil Visible Police units raided the suspects’ residence at New Stands, Hloya in Danielskuil.

“During the raid, dagga weighing 3.7 kilograms, worth R579,079 and crystal meth weighing 310 grams to the value of R77,500 were found on the suspects’ premises, as well as R1,600 cash believed to be the proceeds of the sale of drugs,” said Tawana.

He added that another suspect was arrested at his house in Kuilsville in Danielskuil, after he was found in possession of crystal meth weighing one gram and with an estimated street value of R250.”

Tawana said that the three suspects were expected to appear in the Danielskuil Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 31 on charges of dealing in drugs.

The Northern Cape acting provincial commissioner, Major-General Otola, commended the team for ensuring that drug pedlars were brought to book.
