Police warn that they will continue to “vigorously enforce” the adjusted alert Level 4 lockdown regulations
THE POLICE in the Northern Cape arrested 106 suspects for contravening the adjusted Level 4 lockdown regulations during the period June 28 to July 4.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Mashay Gamieldien said that 78 persons were arrested for not adhering to the curfew or movement of persons during the stipulated hours of 9pm until 4am.
“Twelve people were arrested for not wearing masks, 11 suspects contravened the prohibition of the sale of liquor, three were arrested for hindering a law enforcement officer in the execution of his/her duties and two people were arrested for an illegal gathering,” said Gamieldien.
She added that the police had issued a stern warning to the public that they would continue to vigorously enforce the adjusted alert Level 4 lockdown regulations.
